• Starting October 27, passengers buying railway tickets at counters must pay for insurance digitally.
• The 45-paise premium for Rs 10L cover is now mandatory for physical ticket purchases.
• This facility was already available for online ticket purchases and is now extended to physical counters.
• The change follows a Supreme Court order dated October 6.
• Reservation staff will be responsible for processing the digital payments for the insurance.
