Google to Disable Gemini for School Students Unless Opt-In
- Google will disable Gemini, Gemini Notebook, Gemini in Classroom, and Search for K-12 student accounts unless schools opt in.
- Guided Learning mode for Gemini is now available worldwide in Classroom and will be tested in Search at some US schools this month.
- Google is developing a feature to set daily Gemini usage limits for supervised accounts.
- Once children reach their daily limit, Gemini will display a lockout screen indicating when they can use the assistant again.
- It is unclear whether the limits will apply only to the Gemini app or across other Gemini experiences, such as the overlay and Google Messages.
