Google dismantles 1.3M infected Android TV box botnet, bans manufacturer

• Google's Android partner built a backdoor in 1.3 million devices, turning them into a botnet.
• The Shenzhen, China-based Videostrong Technology Co. has been banned from building or selling certified Android devices.
• A coalition including Google, Lumen, Human Security, Plume, Synthient, and TrendAI disrupted the XCPE botnet.
• The infected devices were spread across more than 200 countries.
• Google has cut ties with the manufacturer and dismantled the backdoor.
